Small DC Wedding?

JennyW Jan 26, 2011 08:24 AM

Hi everyone! I am newer to the DC area, and looking for ideas for a small (25 people) wedding venue for sometime in June that is elegant and charming. Would like somewhere in DC or perhaps Old Town, too. Thanks!

You don't say much about price point, but I can't imagine anything more elegant and charming than Tabard Inn, whose event spaces are pretty much perfectly sized to your wedding. They offer different price points depending on what meal you have for your reception, open bar versus not, etc. Just look at how lovely the rooms are! And the lounge and even front entrance would make for beautiful photos for you. Plus they have a gorgeous patio, that perhaps you could make use of as well. http://www.tabardinn.com/events

Since the event is so small, price isn't too much of an issue. The Tabbard sounds lovely! I will definitely check it out. Thanks for the suggestion and link!

Tabard Inn is my recommendation as well, especially if you can have your meal and/or reception in the lovely courtyard.

Are you looking to hold the ceremony at the venue as well?

If the venue will do both ceremony and reception, that would be great. Not a deal breaker though. Thanks for your recommendation!

I know Tabard can handle both, but keep in mind that it is NOT accessible - if you have older guests that can't make it up a rather large flight of stairs, it can be a problem. It was our deal breaker.

I know Swann House can do both, too, and both places have inside and outside space. I know people who had their ceremony outside and the reception inside at the Tabard.

        Tabard Inn +1

        love that place

Swann House bed and breakfast also does weddings and they always look lovely to me (but I had too many guests to have ours there, unfortunately...it was top choice since it's so beautiful)

I think Tabard is a great choice. You might also want to look at the Mansion on O: http://www.omansion.com/

I've never been, but I've heard secondhand that it's a great, and unique, space for a wedding.

Mansion on O is a very interesting place. I have had good experiences there.

High on my list is Lauberge Chez Francois in Great Falls. It is perhaps a little further than you expected, but the weddings there are BEAUTIFUL. The ceremony is usually on the terrace with dinner in or outside. The food and service is amazing! Historically, it was originally located in DC and moved years ago. It has been a top place for the past 50 years or so. Check it out.
