Help choosing between Joe Beef, Kitchen Galerie, and Quatier General
Coming to montreal for a weekend, I have already booked DNA and Au Pied, read the boards and blogs and I have narrowed it down to these 3 that I wanted to try and wanted some opinions.
thanks

Your best deal is definitely QB. I didn't find the food to be outstanding, but I think it might be one of the best price for quality deals in town. Joe Beef is good - I prefer Chien Fumant in the Winter. I haven't been to kitchen galerie, but I've heard good things.
I think given the other restaurants you've reserved I'd aim for QB as it maybe differs the most from the other two (but thats a pretty subjective assessment). Make sure you reserve early though as it has been super busy, especially since the EnRoute magazine listed it as a Top 10 new resto.
Enjoy!-----

haven't been to Quartier General, but reading below I see its BYOW which to me is an added plus as you can bring some really yummy wines and NOT have to pay a fortune.
My experiences at KG and JB were very different. KG was subdued compared to the very eclectic JB. Both enjoyable experiences and food was great.
Personally, I would go with Quartier because I haven't been and the BYOW.
I'd also suggest you take a look at Chasse et Peche, a really really good restaurant.

I haven't been to both Kitchen Gallery and Joe Beef but went to Quartier Général earlier this month and was really pleased. Yo do have to know it's a BYOW so bring a nice bottle or two. The food was really good and portions rather generous.
The mains come with a choice of salad or soup. For $12 extra you can add an app and dessert. The mains are priced in the $20. So it's quite a bargain for the quality of food. The octopus was amazingly tender and flavorful. The veal chop with butter and parsnip puree was excellent. Anything I tried, except the crab cake was really good but I'm not a big crab fan so I'm not the better judge. They have two seatings, one at 6 and the other at 9, I'd recommend the latter as they won't push out the door.

We had the worst experience at Joe Beef -- nobody from our party of six would return! I haven't been to Kitchen Galerie, but I thought I should warn you about Joe Beef (overrated, overpriced, and just not that great).

re: fraisefatale
Likewise. Went a few weeks back for the 1st time and settled with the waiters rec. on the ribs. What arrived: a plate, a slab of ribs, and a small bowl of frites on the side. Maybe this is what is to be expected but for all the JB hype filling the city vs price, I was immensely disappointed and will likely not run back.
I side with fatalstrawberry - (overrated, overpriced, and just not that great).

I have not been to Quartier General, but between Joe Beef and Kitchen Galerie, my choice would definitely be Joe Beef. Not that I don't like Kitchen Galerie, but I much prefer Joe Beef. That being said, it's a tiny restaurant, so if you are planning to go, especially on a weekend, you should make sure to book well in advance.
