Anyone else getting fed-up with the loud comedy act at Ippudo?!!

Is it getting worse or is it just me? Last 3 times I've been it's been deafeningly loud with all the faux-Japanese thank-you slogans being bellowed out by the servers and cooks at top volume everytime a dish is taken off the counter, put down at a table or whenever a diner arrives or departs...or goes for a leak...!! It's driving me freekin nuts!! I've varied the times I've eaten there lately to gauge any difference...went early, went peak, went late. No difference - the noise level is excrutiating due to the constant shouting of the staff. I couldn't have a conversation with my guests at all.

I'm no old fogey and like a bit of buzz as much as the next person but this whole "we are an authentic Japanese ramen joint comedy act bs" is getting out of hand. I can put up with the odd shout now and again but c'mon ramen people tone it down. I just want to eat my fricken noodles without losing my hearing in the process!!

The ramen is awesome. But the service is abominably loud and the seating policy ridiculous.

a little known fact...you can reserve a table in person the day of your reservation. that is usually why i like the service there. i have never waited more than 3 minutes.

Hit Santoka @ Mitsuwa instead. A bit of a trek but well worth it.

i agree that the seating policy is ridiculous. I like the ramen , and the buns, and the mentaiko on rice. I dont mind the loud greeting. I like yelling back in japanese just as loud. Some of the people yelling do not speak japanese, so I get a laugh that these people yelling at me have no idea what i'm yelling back .

I'm fed up with the comedy act of the hostesses telling me theres a 30-45 minute wait when the place is empty mid afternoon, and seating me in 10 minutes, or the long waits at peak time. Ippudo should just open up a 2nd location thats counter seating only with a ticket machine to pay.

I agree, the delicious noodles almost do not make up for the hassle it is to go to this restaurant.
