Beaver Creek

We're only staying for 5 days and would like any dinner recs. We're foodies but do not need that. Sushi fine, casual is great. Not too high end though---I know there are some very pricey game/Colorado meat places but maybe only one night for that. A cozy place with decent food: pizza, burgers whatever.
Also, if you want to venture to Vail or Avon, are there shuttles as we won't have a car?

Is Kelly Liken's place worth it in Vail?

Yes, there is transport from Beaver Creek, Avon, Vail, Edwards, etc. At entrance to Beaver Creek, try Mirabelle -- Belgian owner/chef and good food. In Edwards, I like Dish -- good food, great interaction w/ chef if interested and more moderate prices than B.C. or Vaiil. Yes, Restaurant Kelly Liken is worth it. Also, Larkspur at the foot of Golden Peak (Vail) and Restaurat Avondale (in the Westin in Avon), both operated by Thomas Salumunovich are really good.. Plenty of other threads abt Vail Valley dining.

So we were in the -27 degree week and did not want to travel far but the highlight of our week, (and we didn't stray far from BC) was Dish in Edwards. I think it is very well priced because a tapas size was way too big for a tapas. The food was quite good, not great, but after Blue Moose Pizza and Dusty Boot Grill (I told you we didn't stray far in that weather!), we loved what they had and the enthusiasm of the house. That red velvet bread pudding with choco chips and creme fraiche was a gutbomb of pure ecstasy for me. I justified it mentally by saying I was burning off calories just existing in that cold!
Another nice spot was the 8100 Grill at the Park Hyatt. Yes, overpriced but the buffalo chili was really tasty as was the chicken flatbread for lunch. Very small, European sized portions at rip-off-the-skiers-prices was not so nice. I do have to say though that the crew at the Dusty Boot was an awesome bunch of efficient, cheerful waitstaff and the pizza at Blue Moose was quite nice despite the sterile atmoshpere.
Never so happy to return to the SD weather this time though!

Sorry that you ended up in the Vail Valley during the record cold snap. USUALLY, January is the coldest month and March the snowiest, but this year, there's been so much snow already (starting in November) that I wonder whether the skies will have anything left come March. I had hesitated to recommend 8100 in the Park Hyatt because of the price (ditto Spago in the Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch), but I've eaten very well at both..
