Feeding 20 people Chinese food in San Francisco

paddyh Jan 24, 2011 10:18 AM

I'm hoping you all might be able to help with ideas for Chinese restaurants in San Francisco Chinatown area. The party will be around 20 people, so several tables, obviously.

I've seen recommendations for R&G, but it looks a bit pricey, given the often dodgy reviews. Are there any other good suggestions for a large party out there?

thanks much!

    Gourmet Carousel

It's kinda close to Chinatown and this place can handle big crowds.

I don't know about dodgy reviews, but R&G is in my view the best Chinese restaurant in the City. certainly the best in (or next to) Chinatown.

And..if you book a banquet meal, you definitely wouldn't have anything to worry about.

There are even private rooms upon request, but there is a minimum charge and you need a $100 deposit.

Five Happiness if you love Peking Duck. The rest of the menu takes some navigating, but tell the owner you want authentic Chinese dishes and you should do just fine. The decor ain't much. If that's a factor, try Hong Kong Lounge. Not sure how it compares in price to R&G, but I've long thought R&G was resting on its laurels.
