kitchenaid stand mixer noise?

hey,

i have a kitchenaid artisan stand mixer (the pink one- http://www.shopkitchenaid.com/counter...) and i've noticed it makes clicking noises. i've been doing some googling, there's not much i can find but it sounds (no pun intended) like it's normal for kitchenaid stand mixers to make noise. however, i'm not too sure the noise i'm getting is normal. so what is the normal sound?

also, there's a faint electrical/mechanical smell too.

mine is only a few months old. i don't know others with mixers so any input is helpful before i rush back to the store.

thanks in advance.

clicking noise might be the cooling fan on the back of the motor contacting something inside.Otherwise it might be something in the gear housing. If its under a year old call kitchen aid. They are pretty good about replacing mixers under warranty.

Clicking noise on top of the normal motor noise? Do you know where the clicking's coming from? Could it be because the whisk's hitting the bowl?

        That was my first thought.

I had a kind of grinding noise for a while with mine. It started out of nowhere and went away after a while.

Have one 20+ years old that happily grinds away making the same gear noise now it did when new--no smells, either. Any chance you're overloading it? Is yours new or refurb? If you're still under warranty, I'd just take it back.
