Casa d' Angelo...Ft. Lauderdale comments re 'nice night out'

Found this restaurant thru 'google' and the 'place' looks 'luxe'...Last week here in Fla and want to have a great Italian meal in beautiful surrounds without mortgaging my house! High end is OK but not outrageous and nice dress up rather than casual! Is this place suitable or perhaps you can suggest an alternative....

D'Angelo Fort Lauderdale is always great... been there lots of times over the years and its always great. Angelo Elia (the owner) is always there and the service and food is always top notch. They have the best Italian food around and the atmosphere is great... Its fancy-casual... some people dressed up and some people will be in t-shirts.

I've never been to their restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale, but I"m a huge fan of their restaurant in Boca. You can dress up. although you don't have to. I've never ordered off the menu as there is always an extremely large number of specials. The food is very good.

a bunch of us had a poor meal at the Boca one a few weeks ago, tough chicken, snapper that all 6 people left on the plates after one bite. Sorry I was unimpressed.

Have to agree with Gingersnap. We used to love the place but were disappointed on our last visit. Much prefer Valentino's for delicious, upscale Italian.

+1. Valentino's is much better. I even prefer Cafe Vico to Casa D'Angelo. It's located one strip center over. Valentino's is further south on Federal at Davie Blvd. Reservations are a must.

I agree that you can do better than Casa d'Angelo. Valentino's is wonderful but not "beautiful surroundings." We had a horrid meal at Vico. Sette Bello fits the bill for great food, lovely surroundings.

Sorry, I guess I missed the "beautiful surroundings" phrase, but I'd still go for Valentino's for delicious Italian food.
