canned anchovies

Does anyone know where i can find anchovies in the Shaugnessy village? I've looked at IGA, Provigo, P&A, and all i seem to be able to find are countless varieties of sardines. Oil-packed, salt-packed, anything. Why are they so hard to find?

"Shaughnessy Village is a neighbourhood of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, located on the western side of the Ville-Marie borough. It is bounded by Guy Street to the east, Atwater Street to the west, Sherbrooke Street to the north, and René Lévesque Boulevard/Ville-Marie Expressway to the south."

So I'm assuming New Victoria Fish isn't in Shaughnessy Village ;)

So, it's been a "village" dating all the way back to 1981 : P

at PA supermarche, on Fort, they are at the end of the cheese aisle (before the seafood aisle, opposite the fresh meat).
best is to ask someone .

They are usually in a refrigerated case - they are *not* normally with the canned sardines, tuna, etc., in all the stores I go to. As eatwell says, just ask and I'm sure they're just hiding in somewhere you're not looking. :-)

yes at my IGA they are found near the cream cheese and yogurt - not where I would usually expect at all!

I have always seen them at Fish Stores like Victoria fish or the new one on Sherbrooke that used to be on Monkland (it changed names)

Come to think of it, does anybody know why most or all stores here in Montreal put canned anchovies in refrigerated sections? You'd think that because they are canned, there wouldn't be any need for this, but come to think of it, canned lump crab meat is also typically found in freezer sections.

I always assumed it was to keep them from turning to mush.

BTW - I find the ones packed in glass jars to be superior to the ones in flat cans.

They should be in all of those places! Look in the fresh fish section. I know I have been fooled looking in the canned fish section. Also ask at the store. I have even bought them in a Dep!
