Need places to eat for three day trip to Chicago?

  • 4

I am going to be in Chicago for three days in March. I am either going to stay in the the loop downtown area or the Magnificent Mile river north area. I wanted to know some good places to eat for every meal. I obviously need a good pizza place and italian beef place in the area. I also wanted to know of any good bars that are in the area and anything else you think is worth seeing or doing while here. Thanks for all the help.

  1. >> I obviously need a good pizza place

The best places are the original Uno and Due in River North, Pizano's on State near the Mag Mile and on Madison in the Loop, and Lou Malnati's in the South Loop and the west end of River North. Go to whichever one is closest to you.

    >> and italian beef place in the area.

Portillo's on Ontario in River North is always a good bet.

Go to Sable. They have amazing artisanal cocktails. The food is also outstanding; don't miss the sweet corn creme brulee!

I know the Chowhound Team frowns upon discussions that aren't related to food and drink. The Chicago Convention and Visitors Bureau has lots of great information on their website at www.choosechicago.com

In the Loop, the Gage. www.thegagechicago.com

There's also Hopleaf, but it's pretty far from downtown, in Andersonville on the far north side. It will take 50-60 minutes by public transportation, half that by cab. www.hopleaf.com
