Temptee cream cheese in LA?

Does anyone know of a grocery store that sells Breakstone's Temptee whipped cream cheese in LA?

  1. Good luck.
Breakstone's is an eastern, southeastern and midwestern US brand from Kraft Foods, Knudsen is their western brand.

    1. monku is unfortunately correct. you can't buy Temp Tee Cream Cheese or Breakstone's sour cream out here. Friendship products are really hard to find as well. tough adjustment having grown up on those brands!

i know Philadelphia comes in a whipped variety now. i've never tried it, but perhaps it's worth checking out...? if not, and you absolutely *must* have Temp Tee, you can order it online..

I heartily recommend Trader Joe's whipped cream cheese
as being the best...better than all the store brands and
any Kraft product on the Left Coast.

      2. I know you can get Temptee at Molly Stone's in the Bay Area. Philadelphia Whipped is good; it's just not quite as good as Temptee. I guess I may have to do without.

wow, i'm surprised you found it up North! call Molly Stone's and ask them for their distributor's contact info. you can find out which LA stores they also deliver to and perhaps ask one of them to try stocking it on a trial basis.

then just put the word out here on CH, and all us East Coast-expats will go buy some to show them that it's worth keeping in stock :)

        2. Not sure if this helps right now, but Temp Tee cream cheese has always been available at the kosher markets in the Pico-Robertson area around the Passover holiday, which this year falls at the end of April. It might be available at those markets year-round, but I've only noticed it when I do a lot of shopping in that area at that time of year.

UPDATE: I just did my Passover shopping at Glatt Mart, and the store had plenty of Temp Tee cream cheese, as well as Breakstone's butter, cottage cheese, and sour cream. A few caveats: The store was absolutely mobbed with Passover shoppers today, a situation that will almost certainly worsen through this Monday. Also, be aware that the store is closed on Saturdays and the holy days of Passover, which this year fall out on April 19, 20, 25 and 26. They will also be closing early on April 18 and 24.

Glatt Mart is located at 8708 W. Pico Blvd., about a block and a half east of Robertson.

thanks so much for the update, Arthur! if only they stocked *Friendship* dairy products i'd be their new best customer :)

Well today is your lucky day: I saw at least one Friendship product there (I think it was cottage cheese), but I stuck with Breakstone's all the way down the line.

you rock :) i'm looking for a very specific variety...i just called them to ask about it, and he said they're closed and i should try back Sunday morning. making a note to myself now. thanks again!

            2. ironically enough, i have seen and purchased Temp-Tee from the 99 Cent Store at Fairfax and Wilshire...

how recently did you pick it up at the 99 cent only store?

maybe a month ago? ...everything there is seems to be happenstance, and inconsistent at best in terms of availability, but it might be worth checking out from time to time...
