I am in Paramus heading to Asbury Park. Where can I pick up great buffalo wings?

  1. I'd get off the Parkway at exit 105 and head to Jack's Rib & Ale House on Brighton Ave in Long Branch.

I like the hot garlic ones the best. Lots of beer specials too.

When you're done, just drive south on Ocean Ave into Asbury.

+1 on Jack's garlic in our area!

    2. I'm sorry I've never had great wings in NJ, and I can't recommend anything near me, but if you were hungry you could get off at Exit 130 and stop at Famous Dave's BBQ on U.S. 1 just south of the GSP.

I'll bet you'd have better luck at Exit 102.

If you are going to get off on Rt. 1, go to Uno's for wings, right before Famous Dave's. My favorite wings around (aside from mine). I ask for mine crispy, since not into soaking wet wings.

      2. You'll probably have to reheat them when you get to Asbury Park, but Buffalo's Chicken Shack in Wood Ridge has incredible wings and other food. Best in the area by a landslide.

I decided I would make the damn wings! Thanks to everyone who replied. Here's what I am doing.
A spicy sweet and sour wing. Here's the recipe: 1 Tblsp cornstarch, 6 tblsp brown sugar, 1/4 cup rice vinegar, 1/4 cup OJ, 3 tblsp ketchup, 3 tblspn lemon juice, 2 tblspn soy sace, 1/2 tspn minced garlic, 1/4 tspn hot chili oil, 1/4 tspn hot sauce, 1 cup sugar, 2 tblspn water, 1/2 tspn salt.
In sauce pan mix corn starch and water stir until dissolved. Add remaining ingredients cook over medium heat until thick. I will be grilling my wings. Try this sauce it is great!

you should try the korean style twice fried wings. have not had them but they look ridculous. has a great recipe for them

K-style wings REALLY ARE the most amazing style i've ever had. I'm partial to UFC in Tenafly (i like the sauces and pickled diakon they give you), but my dude likes Mad for Chicken in Bergenfield. We are blessed with a multitude of K-fried chix here in N, Jersey that it seems like a shame to go back to "regular" style buffalo wings.

        2. Some of the best wings (strictly buffalo style) I've had are at Basil T's in Red Bank. Right off exit 109. Great flavor, and crispy right to the end. There is also a new buffalo Wild Wings by Monmouth mall in Eatontown. Lots of good sauce flavors, but will probably be a zoo today with the Jet game going on.

IMHO BWW's wings are pretty bad...

            1. re: joonjoon

I dunno, Monday night, all you can eat wing night, Tuesday night 1/2 price wing night- Both at BWW, where, I've found that if you ask for your wings to be "freshly" made, rather than sitting under a heat lamp, they're (IMHO of course), pretty darn good!!

              1. re: sockster

Hey Sockster, not to crap on BWW, but jack's has their wings for 30c a pop every day for happy hour. 10 wings fills me up so that's 3 bucks for "all you can eat" for me. They're also way bigger and meatier than the bww wings, which are miniscule in comparison. Even at regular price, 10 bucks gets me my fill of wings. And they're freaking delicious. Next time you're in the mood for some delicious buffalo wings head over to jack's and ask for an order of garlic wings. I swear you'll never want to go back to bww again.

                1. re: joonjoon

Hi Joonjoon....been to Jacks many times...per your recommendation I might add. Love their garlic wings...don't make it home in time for Happy Hour....and love their clam strips (and ribs of course)...both recommended by you!! I agreee!!

                  1. re: sockster

I'm glad you enjoyed 'em socks! I think Jack's may have ruined wings for me...every time I get them elsewhere I'm secretly wishing I had Jack's instead.

Jack's keeps surprising me...I recently had their honey fried chicken for the first time (which I think you mentioned elsewhere) - it was quite tasty! I also like their calamari, which is made with huge meaty pieces rather than the thin rings that's the norm.

                    1. re: joonjoon

Do they include the tentacle ends of the calamari? That's my favorite portion but most places don't serve them...

                      1. re: equal_Mark

That's my favorite too =M. And yes, tentacles are served there. I'm pretty sure most places I get calamari include tentacles though.

          2. on the way home, stop at cubbys in south hackensack on river road. im not a huge fan of their bbq, however i feel their wings are the best in the area. a little pricey but you get a ton and they are huge. if anyone can recommend other spots in the area, id gladly check them out.

Jimmy Geez in Haledon. For wings, that is.
