Big news for my Danforth Chow Buddies. I repeat BIG NEWS......

millygirl Jan 22, 2011 02:13 PM

I just read in the National Post that Pizza Liberitto is planning to open a second location along the Danforth. Yes, you read right, Pizza Liberitto is coming HERE, to us!

Apparently they are still in leasing negotiations and hope to be open for late summer. It was the family feel to the neighbourhood that lead them to our 'hood.

I wonder what space they will occupy? Kokkini seems to small. Maybe where Myth was? Maybe that sports bar decided not to bother??

The 'hounds are always on top of this stuff! I'm happy for the Danforthians (?). :)

No, that's old news but not BIG news. BIG news would be if a Charlie Trotter's or Alinea opened up on Danforth.

I mentioned a possible location, Trapezzi is definitely closed for good. Plus there is that empty place right beside Fruit King at Logan Ave.

I'd love to see them do something radical and come east of Greenwood through to Woodbine. That stretch is filled with sad, empty storefronts. Many of the Ethiopian places that populate this stretch are great but there's a need for more diversity. That said, I wouldn't want to see Gerrard Spaghetti (which serves great pizza) get too much competition.

The new Pizzeria Libretto is definitely going into the Trapezzi space. I think it will totally work. Feta and Kalamata pizza anyone?
