Luca's Ristorante Flemington

We went here several years ago when it first opened and it was so bad that we never returned. Finally decided to try it again last night and, lo and behold, it is still terrible. Things not to try: the bread basket, the appetizers, the pizza, the chicken dishes, the desserts. Seriously, that about sums it up. Every single item we tried, without exception, was sub-par. Oh, and the service was terrible too.

The bread was stale and the oil for dipping was rancid. The chicken was tough, the gelato had ice crystals on it. Can't confirm it, but the cheese on the pizza tasted and had the texture of white american. The apple crisp dessert was absolutely disgusting. Tasted like it came out of a can.

We will never ever go back. It was a total waste of our time and money. It is shocking to me how this place can remain open for so many years when so many other Italian restaurants are around.

  1. I dined there for the first time a few weeks ago. While my experience wasn't quite as bad as yours was, I was singularly unimpressed and wouldn't go back. Besides the lackluster food, I thought the decor was odd and offputting and the seating was absolutely terrible. I don't think I've ever been seated in a more uncomfortable chair! I don't understand how this place stays open either.

    1. WOW!! just wow. The first thing I want to say is that, the food here is wonderful. The jalapeƱo bread was good and tasted really fresh. I decided to go with the Shrimp Nuovi and I'm glad I did because it was breathless. The service was great and I was able to get a seat fairly quickly despite being there at the peak of dinner time. I would definitely recommend this place and I already have told many of my friends. I am definitely going back this week for sure.

        I see this is the first time you have posted here on CH. Are there any other places in Flemington that you would recommend?

          Hahaha!! The shrimp was breathless? What does that even mean? The shrimp was no longer breathing? Well, in that case, the bread and the ice cream were breathless, too! And why on earth is there jalapeno bread at an Italian restaurant? To theguywholovesfood: the posters on this board take food and dining seriously and enjoy sharing our experiences. Please give us a little more credit and don't think you are fooling anyone.
