Special Occasion in Queens

Looking for somewhere to celebrate a special occasion - birthday and a book publication - with a couple close friends and fam. I've lived in the borough for a decade and am looking for something new and interesting, so the old Queens standbys are out. Would love to hear suggestions for somewhere that has exceptional ambiance and high quality food that might be a little off the radar. Other desired traits include decent drink options or byob and a high coziness factor. Holler if you've got the spot for me. Cheers!

Any particular neighborhood in Queens? For Astoria, I love Vesta -- reasonable, seasonal menu, nice wine selection, phenomenal dessert (Baby Jesus Cake).

I've been meaning to try Uvarara in Middle Village. From the looks of the website and reviews, it sounds cozy and "off the radar."

I really enjoyed a recent meal at L'Artiste, also in Astoria. It was BYOB but not sure if that has changed. Lovely French cuisine.

My go to place in Queens for something like that is Danny Brown in Forest Hills. Excellent food and atmosphere.
