Best Jambalaya?
My friend and I will be returning to New Orleans for yet another chance to sample all the deliciousness that the city has to offer. The one thing we are in search of this trip is the best jambalaya in town. Just wanted to hear from those in the know their experiences. My friend cannot eat shellfish so a meat version would be best.
We are staying near the quarter but will be visiting different neighborhoods all through the week so any part of town is fair game. Thanks for your help!

If you want a cheap place in the FQ I would highly recommend Coop's Place on Decatur. They do a rabbit jambalaya that's smoky and full of flavor. Probably the best I've had in NO. It's a tiny place (like, a dozen or so tables), so be prepared for a bit of a wait. It's worth it though! I also really dig their fried chicken.

Zoo Zoo, get thee over to Crescent Pie and Sausage Co. on Banks Street in MidCity. The jambalaya has braised pork, sausage, blackeyed peas...juicy, perfectly seasoned. Chef is from the bayou (Franklin, La.), so you know you're in authentic hands.

re: Jaxman
Just as safe as Uptown, if not safer, at night. Not that Uptown is dangerous or anything. Parking right near the restaurant, quiet 'hood. Put it this way: don't let where it is be the reason you don't try Bart's Black Jambalaya! And get the large, not the small, because then you'll end up paying for 2 smalls when you invariably must have more!

re: sanglier
I've not had that yet...I can imagine some friends screaming "heresy!" at the thought of blackeyed peas. K-Paul was my first thought but I swear I have not had a restaurant jambalaya since Hector was a pup...kinda like shrimp creole, I have it at friend's houses or make it myself.
