Looking for Great Mid-City Italian (not Mozza)

I want some great Italian this weekend and can't get a Mozza reservation for a decent time. I've had Angelini Osteria and La Buca and am wondering if there is anything new or anything else great between downtown and Beverly Hills. Thanks.

You can't go wrong with any of the below, but in order of preference:

    1. Angelini Osteria
    2. Scarpetta
    3. Osteria Mamma
    4. Marino

Do folks like Angelli Cafe better than Angelini Osteria?

personally, yes. while i like angelini a lot - i really think it's great- i feel that the better package is at angeli. though, really i am just obsessed with their bread & gnocchi!

              e. baldi on Canon is a great, often overlooked, spot.

A little different, but might want to consider Marino Restaurant.

Madeo on Beverly west of Robertson is wonderful (love the burrata appetizer and it's the best salmon farfalle i've ever had, plus they have pasta w/ bottarga!) & I'm a huge fan of Angeli Caffe on Melrose, east of Poinsettia (love the gnocchi of the day, and their bread is wonderful).
