Burger and beer near the Mpls Convention Center

Group of dads taking our kids to the boat show at the convention center tomorrow afternoon. Looking for a post-show restaurant where we can get a decent burger / pub food and a beer (pop for the kids). Video games a plus.

Thanks for any suggestions.

  1. Walking distance, I assume.

8th street grill has an excellent beer selection. It's a Packer bar, so avoid if you are going on a Sunday.

I don't know that any place in walking distance has an especially great burger other than Vincent, which won't quite fit the bill.

The best overall food would be Hell's Kitchen, but they are known for their breakfasts (served all day) more than pub food.

Video games plus edible food are not a combination you'll find in this state.

    1. Eli's isn't terribly far away, on Hennepin. Market BBQ is also pretty close. Not sure about the video games, though.

      1. article in Strib today. Anyone visited The Inn, yet?

        1. Probably as close as you are going to get is a walk over to Nicollet Mall and Brits, the Local or the Newsroom. I don't think you are going to find video games though. I think I know the kind of place you might like but it is too far away and more suitable to and close to the Metrodome and that is Grumpy's on Washington Avenue. I can't think of anything like that near the Convention Center. I was there on a day when they had Monster Trucks at the Dome and the place was packed with kids and dads, and they had video games.

          1. re: Davydd

It should be noted that Grumpy's has free parking, and also mac and cheese and tater tots.

It should also be noted that the Newsroom has a boat. I think that would actually be kind of a fun place for kids to go.

          2. Ended up driving back to St Paul and eating at the Groveland Tap. Not great food but a good beer selection and plenty of games for the kids.

            Thanks for the suggestions.
