sunday brunch with a baby

can anyone recommend a restaurant for sunday brunch that is baby friendly? we'll be in town staying at the intercontinental, so something in that area would be great but not totally necessary since we'll have a car. our daughter is 11 months old and is typically very well behaved. looking for something pretty casual with traditional brunch food - pancakes, waffles, etc. nothing crazy popular with long wait times. thanks!

  1. You'll find plenty of suggestions in this discussion:

    River North Breakfast Ideas -

The question there was asked about places near the Trump Hotel, which is only a couple of blocks from the Intercontinental. There's no need to drive anywhere, with so many places close by!

Some of the places mentioned there, including South Water Kitchen, accept reservations on which avoids the wait problem. Also in my experience the peak waits at most breakfast/brunch places on Sundays occur roughly 9:30-12:30, so if you can go before or after those hours, that's another way to avoid a long wait.

And you can bring a well-behaved toddler anywhere. And you're likely to see other children and toddlers at just about any restaurant serving Sunday brunch.

    1. i'll check that thread out, thanks for your help (again!)

      1. I have a 13 month old, and have been to Grande Lux Cafe a few times. It's pretty spacious and also fairly loud in case of any "antics". You could also try the Oak Tree Restaurant and Bakery in the 900 North mall, on Michigan Ave. We had good luck there with our little one, and for the weather we're having a mall is sometimes a good fit for an infant.
