Good sushi in San Ton-ya

  • 5

I know, I know...sushi in SA. There has to be one in San Antonio that another sushi lover would know about. I need to make a visit to the big city ( live out west) in the near future and would like to take a sushi novice (likes wasabi) with us to experience the real deal.

Any ideas out there?

  1. I see that you have found the other board where our favorite is mentioned... we really really like Godai. The sushi is super great. I also like Kona Grill but thats a chain so I would go with Godai.

    1. I'm a fan of Tokyo Inn. Total dive on the outside. totally legit on the inside.

Pro: Fresh, well contructed, no "Spurs rolls," "Alamo rolls," or "Rock and Rolls."

Con: limited menu (but what they have is good), one warm sake and one cold sake, nothing else.

Have you ever seen the fried shrimp heads there?

          no. sounds interesting.

do they have off menu stuff?

They are off the menu in most places.

I was in a sushi bar in Houston a few years back when the chef dropped one on my tray. Considering all of the raw stuff I had just devoured, I looked at it for a second or three then pitched it in the crusher. WOW, talk about a shrimp hit! There is a word for them but I forgot...try one next time.
