Dinner suggestions for a mixed bag

gwk222 Jan 20, 2011 11:57 AM

Need dinner for 6. Two are vegetarians. Some love a good steak. One lives for nice fresh seafood. Thinking Union Square Cafe perhaps if that gives you idea on price/location. Would prefer to stay below 34th St. and not totally break the piggy bank.

Hearth (less expensive) and Craft (more expensive) are my go-to's for this sort of thing.

Hearth doesn't serve steak and has limited vegetarian choices, imo. Good restaurant, though.

I'd suggest looking up Riverpark. The steak is really good, the fish/seafood dishes are very well exeuted and there's enough vegetarian offerings. It is one of the best values anywhere for top-notch dishes and service today, imo.

I've gone to Hearth with a vegetarian and they offered to modify some of the courses on the menu for her. The server was very helpful in navigating the menu -- plus, the famous gnocchi and mushrooms are both vegetarian friendly. There's definitely a steak on the menu, right now, at least. The sirloin in the middle column.

The wagyu with black truffles for NYE sound good. But is the sirloin in the current menu as good?
