Pastrami hunt (Tri-county area)

Hi,

I'm interested in hearing your commentary on where the best deli-style beef pastrami can be had in Miami-Dade, Broward, or Palm Beach counties. It seems like Delis are a dying breed in South Florida and I'd like to go on a mini-tour and sample the pastrami recommendations throughout these three counties.

Thanks all, for the feedback. I'm going to start with Ben's & Pomperdale. Sage is ok but I'm familiar with it and looking for new haunts.

Ben's in Boca is everything a NY style deli should be. The pastrami (and all deli meat) is great!

Do they serve a great pastrami reuben? The best I ever had was at Izzy's Deli in Santa Monica. Moist pastrami served warm, not hot, on rye (the good stuff, not the white-bread soft falls-apart stuff masquerading as rye) with swiss cheese and spicy-sweet mustard. Yum!

They are a kosher deli, so there will be no cheese.

Ben's is the only "Kosher" restaurant I have ever seen that is open on the Sabbath. When questioned they told me that "the owner's brother-in-law is gentile and they sell the restaurant to him every Friday afternoon and buy it back overy Saturday after sundown". I need the name of the Rabbi so that I can open my Sabrett wagon in front of the Shul on Shabat.
