Sunday dinner - south loop
Staying near Midway Sunday evening. Willing to drive into the city (not too far north). Any new "can't miss spots"? I am interested in Avenues, Sunda, and David Burke Steak. Any spots closer to Midway...to save me the drive into the city?

Midway isn't that far from downtown Chicago, 15-20 minutes drive if it's not prime commuting hours. The food offerings between downtown and Midway aren't anywhere near as robust as those downtown or on the north side. My favorite Mexican restaurant in Chicago - Mundial Cocina Mestiza ( www.mundialcocinamestiza.com ) is in the Pilsen neighborhood, a few miles closer than downtown but it's not a huge geographical difference. The same thing is true for Greek restaurants in Greek Town and Chinese restaurants in Chinatown; they're only slightly closer than going to the Loop and Mag Mile areas. If you're really interested in Avenues, Sunda, or David Burke's Primehouse, then don't worry about saving yourself the drive; there's nothing comparable to any of those between Midway and downtown.
Also, make sure the place you decide to go is open on Sundays. Most restaurants in Chicago are, but some are not. (It's generally a good idea to call ahead for reservations, too.)
Incidentally, "South Loop" is a specific neighborhood in the city, just south of the Loop. I assume from your post that you're not specifically targeting that neighborhood, but are instead interested in places southwest of the Loop.
