Need some recommendations. will be at a wedding in Jordan. Our group wants to have some great italian or Spanish food. You know, fresh mediterranean, great ingredients and simple.
Can you recommend any places for us?
Where can we get Pingue prosciutto to take home?
Any foodie places in the area - we don't mind driving.

For the prosciutto they have their dealers listed on their website:

Not sure which of the Niagara area dealers is closest to Jordan.

Is the wedding in the next few weeks? If so, the Ice Wine festival is happening in the Niagara area and is worth while checking out.

Also in Jordan (Jordan Station.. not sure if the same town but you pass by it on the way to Jordan Village) is Upper Canada Cheese. I like their cheese, in particular the Niagara Gold but I haven't stopped at the actual fromagerie so I don't know what kind of setup they have there but might be worth a shot!

Upper Canada Cheese is definitely worth a stop. Their store has a big tasting area, and it's fun to try their Comfort Cream that is in different stages of aging.

UCC is one of our usual stops when we're in Niagara, but disappointed a few weeks ago because they were out of many of their cheeses (post Christmas restock required, but when I asked about a few of my favs they weren't going to be getting them in for a few months! Yikes!)

I suspect you're out of luck on the Spanish food out in the Jordan/Niagara area, but there are a number of threads on this board for really fine restos. For Italian, the closest that comes to my mind would be Tony DeLuca's Old Winery Restaurant in Niagara on the Lake (not exclusively Italian though). There are many restaurants out there that I would recommend before the Old Winery, such as Stone Road Grill, Treadwell's. Very close to where you are going to be in Jordan, is a cute little place called About Thyme Bistro you may want to check out ...

if you've stopped at the UCC retail outlet in Jordan Station, then you've also been to their fromagerie ... it's right in the back and has a glass viewing area. You don't really notice it that much unless they are in the midst of making their cheese

Actually UCC retail outlet in Jordan sells Pingue Proscuitto. Failing that if you take a drive in NOTL you can go to Cheese Secrets who also sells Pingue Proscuitto and many other wonderful goodies! Enjoy. www.cheesesecrets.com
