There is an $8.99 lunch buffet at the Indian Bakery in the NE (Castleridge).
Apparently their desserts and samosas are fantastic! And they give you a big basket of naan, which is how it should be.

I've been to Bikaner Sweets House for the lunch buffet a few times in the past month or so - and am impressed with the selection in the buffet for the price. Lots of choice and I'm quite happy with the quality, also the people there are very helpful and friendly. I think it's the best deal around - that I've found anyway.

I just came back from a fantastic lunch at Marathon Ethiopian restaurant along 10th St NW in Kensington, and it was great! They have a weekly lunch special BUFFET. Buffet! Delicious and a definite lunch recommendation.
$12 Ethiopian buffet lunch from Monday - Thursday.
When I was there they had beef, spicy chicken, lamb, lentils, chickpeas, split peas, mixed veggies, salad and several other side dishes + endless injera. Yum.-----

Vero Bistro (Kensington) and Q Haute Cuisine (downtown) both offer $15 three course lunches on week days.

1600 World Bier Haus. Went today and the special was a pound of baby back ribs-several flavours- for 6 bucks, or a pound for 10 bucks. They have daily specials weekdays like this that start at 2pm, and lunch specials in the $10-$14 range, as well as a daily bier special. Oh, and 9 cent wings fro Superbowl.
I thought )then forgot) about starting a thread like this last summer after spending a couple of days in Seattle where a great number of restaurants, typically the upscale, hot, trendy restaurants, have daily happy hours. Not the booze happy hour we are accustomed to here, but food happy hours, with pretty good prices on special creations as well as reduced size regular menu items. It is really quite competitive and fun to go restaurant-hopping. for food instead of drinks. There is often a drink special, but not always. Would be nice if this kind of competition caught on in Calgary at the higher end restos.

Gaucho has a $14 lunch special, 1 bbq item plus hot/cold table. For $3 more, all bbq items included, both AYCE. It's a meataganza!
Dixons, Limericks, I believe all the pubs in that group have a lot of daily specials, including 40% off beer and drinks from 4-6pm weekdays, 17 cent wings on Mondays and 1 cent riblets Wednesdays, 4-close. They do a pretty good job on the riblest and wings. The ribs are pretty gnarly cuts though.

Sura $10 Lunch Special (11.30am - 2.30pm) Monday - Friday
I've found it to be excellent value. You get your choice of Beef, Chicken, Pork or Kim Bab served with Kim Chi, Bin Dae Dduk and Jap Chae. If you get the chicken just ask for a little less sauce as they tend to smother it all over the rice and chicken, and it's too cloying.
