Best place for a late sunday lunch in cape town or surrounds

We always fly out of cape town on sunday evenings - the 8:40pm back to London. And we always have the same problem - need to check out of the hotel by noon or pay for another day. So we have 6 hours to kill before getting to the airport but everything is closed except the waterfront.

We did la colombe once. that was fantastic.

are there other great spots for long boozey lunches to say goodbye to the sun and the food before boarding the horrific flight back to grey london? I wish haiku or jardine or five flies were open for lunch on sunday...

is Catharina's any good at steenberg?

and while i'm here and you're reading - any great spots in and around kleinmond / hermanus?

La Colombe or Constantia Uitsig for food and surroundings.
Buitenverwachting does an excellent jazz buffet-ask to sit on the dining room side terrace
Catharinas has good jazz but the buffet is not inspired. I prefer 1682 on the estate no jazz, but good relaxed and inventive dining.
In town 15 on Orange has a buffet with so so mains but excellent starters, cheese and dessert and unlimited Graham Beck bubbles. (sometimes they pour the vintage)
Towards the airport are also options, Jardine at Jordan and 96 Winery Road would be my choices. The settings of these restaurants will make you want to plan your next trip immediatey!

I will second all of the suggestions made by Caroline above, but also will add The Grand beach club at the Waterfront. Well not actually; moreso at the original yacht club cloeser to the stadium backside. Superb people watching, excellent gourmet pizzas, loads of bubbles, lovely fish and decadent steaks. And don't worry if you've already packed in your flip flops. There is ample decking, indoor dining and Umbrellas for shade.
