Melbourne - Lunch specials

Hi all

Long time browser, first time poster. Heading down to Melbourne for the tennis and looking for some nice places to eat.

After a nice restaurant in the CBD where they have a good value set menu or lunch special on Mondays. I'm aware of Vue De Monde but also after more suggestions. Something like how Marque, Assiette, Balzac do on their weekday lunches back in Sydney as a guide.

Also heard about Maze (not the grill) having a lunch deal but couldnt see this on their menu. Can anyone verify this?

Much appreciate any help on this.

Cheers

My favourite lunch spot around the CBD is Libertine. Embrasse also does a good one. In general, you need to get out of the CBD.

Maze does do 3-4 course lunches (http://www.gordonramsay.com/mazemelbo...) - and it looks like it's pretty good value. My favourite lunch spot around the CBD at the moment is Cumulus Inc, although no prix fixe.

I'd also give Embrasse a big thumbs up, but Libertine is only open for lunches on Friday and Saturday at the moment.

If you're keen on Italian (and somewhere close to the tennis), Church St Enoteca has a very good value lunch - although I haven't been in a year or so.

I've heard PM24 does a good lunch menu.

Without a doubt you have to go to Mo Vida, booking is essential but being a lunch you should be ok, but do try & book as far ahead as you can. They also have Mo Vida Next Door, which funnily enough is next door. You can even walk there from Tennis Centre - it is opposite Fed Square.
Mamasita (real Mexican) is also a favourite, as is Cookie (Thai). Awesome food at both. After you have finished your lunch at Cookie you then head up to the Roof Top bar to enough the sunshine & great views over the city.
The above mentioned venues are not set price, but they are all great for small plates that you share.
        Enjoy Melbourne......
