Where to buy Casatica cheese?
I ate at Providence and had the creamiest, lightest, most delicious cheese ever. Turns out it's a water buffalo cheese from Italy called Casatica. I need more of it! Does anyone know of a cheese shop or deli where I can buy more of it? I can't afford to go to Providence every time I need my cheese fix.
Gioia Cheese Co. makes and sells wholesale to the public. They make a Bufala Mozzarella, call and see if they make the cheese you want.

I've always assumed that Gioia was making their mozz with cows milk. Do they actually use water buffalo milk? If so I wonder how they source it?
I do know that Guidi Marcello in Santa Monica gets fresh shipments of bufala mozzarella weekly from Italy.

I did some further checking and Gioia uses only cows milk in their cheese making. So if the OP is really seeking bufala mozzarella then they will need to buy from another source.

It wasn't exactly a mozzarella... it had a mild flavor like mozza but the texture of a double-cream brie. Here's a little info on it: http://forevercheese.com/pic.asp?iCat...

I might still check with Guidi Marcello and see what they could tell you. Also some of the better cheese specialty stores like Beverly Hills Cheese store or Silver Lake Cheese shop or the one up on Montana (can't think of the name at the moment) in Santa Monica (Andrews!). If nothing else local to you in Los Angeles surfaces then you are probably going to be left with mail ordering it: http://www.murrayscheese.com/prodinfo...
