Desperate for good southern food...please help.

  • 7

I have been living in Baltimore in the cockeysville area for almost five years now, I am originally from North Carolina. I miss the food from back home horribly. I am looking for a good place that serves "home style" southern food...any suggestions?

  1. Andy Nelson's BBQ in Cockeysville does a great pulled pork.

Best pulled pork I've had outside NC, and the best brisket outside of Texas.

Sides are all good, and done in house. Generous servings and fair prices. It's a little out of the way, but worth the trip.

      1. If you are ever up in the Westminster area, Baughers while not necessarily a gourmet delight has country style food, green beans southern style and etc. I haven't been very recently, I went to college there. but it was good.

People say good things about Miss Shirley's brunch, which looks like it has some good Southern things. If you could head to DC let me know I can give you some recs there.

        1. Can you get down to DC? Ooohs and Aaahs might be just the thing. Just don't expect fancy!

          1. I don't know how authentically Southern it is, but I really enjoyed the fried green tomatoes, shrimp and grits, and hash from Langermann's in Canton.
