Any hot spot for Pre-Dinner drinks before Tao?

ginerd123 Jan 18, 2011 03:33 PM

I'm taking my boyfriend out for his birthday at Tao and made a late reservation so it's a more lively atmosphere. I would like to find a great place for drinks before we get dinner. Anyone know of any trendy bars or restaurants with a bar? Don't want to be too expensive since I'm sure dinner will be.. But all suggestions are welcome and much appreciated!!

just across from Tao is Lavo. i haven't been, but it's being promoted as a big, all out, Vegas style place. it's definitely trendy. can't say if it's worthy of the hype.

Tao is the place to have drinks before Tao. Go to the upstairs bar to mix it up

Yeah, I always thought of Tao as the amusing trendy theme-park place to go for drinks, before going somewhere good to eat.

Next door at Four Seasons Hotel! Expensive but you will save on cab fare!

The Four Seasons is trendy? This is news to me. Are you basing this on a recent visit? Also, the OP specifically requested not too expensive, and if the Four Seasons is anything, it is most definitely too expensive.

Serafina's really the only thing I can think of in that neighborhood, and I would recommend it only half-heartedly. Is Ma Peche's bar a good place to sit?

They have a nice bar but it's not very trendy.

ok, ok maybe not "trendy" but nice. Or you can go to the gay bar next door prior-forgot name of it-right next to Four Seasons same side of street.
