Unfamiliar with the village

Hi! I just got my tickets for STOMP in the mail and am very excited to go! I am from NJ and not familiar with NYC at all.
I will attend a Sunday 3pm show. Can anyone suggest a nearby restaurant with a good Sunday lunch/brunch we could go to before the show?
Thanks in advance!

Since folks have mentioned Five Points, be sure you get a reservation, or else not sure if you can wait.

I'd add Belcourt. The food is good, and the lines should be more manageable. I think Mermaid Inn might fit the bill.

Veselka is a good diner type option.

If you feel more adventurous, there's are tons of ethnic options, Japanese, Korean, Indian, Thai, the aforementioned Ukrainian.

Veselka's waits can also be quite long.

North Square has a good brunch. I'm not sure, but I think they also have live jazz. Located opposite NW corner of Washington Square Park.

Good suggestions, so far. You might also want to consider Caracas Arepa Bar and Momofuku Ssam Bar. Momofuku is overpriced, but if you don't need to watch the bill too much, the pork scrapple is great. You could also do the $25 prix fixe lunch option.

Five Points would be a great option. we always enjoy our meals there.

also not far is Chinatown Brasserie, which we tried for the first time this weekend. i had my uncle, aunt, grandmother and cousin, along with Ms. Coasts, for dim sum and it worked out to be under $40/pp including tax and tip (no drinks). everyone loved it. Claire Robinson was sitting at the table next to us, which is never a bad sign.

Chinatown Brasserie is excellent (some of the best dim sum in the city but pricey for lunch/brunch). I suggest you stick with the dim sum part of the menu.

Both are good options. Love Five Points' brunch. Definitely try to reserve as waits can be long if you don't have a reservation. It's fairly easy to reserve at DBGB for brunch in contrast.
