Another Amazing Deal From The Butchers: $40 for $100 Worth of Organic Meat and Poultry

I posted this *last* time: [EXPIRED DEAL] http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/751033

Well, now The Butchers is back with another deal, even bigger this time. Pay $40 and receive $100 worth of organic and naturally raised meat and poultry at their store:

If they could only come up with a good deal like this every 2-3 weeks I would be set!!

hmmm...now i'm worried they're in financial trouble and just selling as many of these as possible to generate some cash before they cash out. (favourite trick of tanning salons, gyms etc). they sold over 2000 through the deal-getters promotion

My concern too. Plus they had a not-as-good coupon (only 50% off) the week before with someone else, if I'm not mistaken. But, maybe they just booked it all at the same time - dunno, really. I would buy one too, but I'm never in that area.

I know they've leased a place right across the street (believe it'll be for fish products only), so they're expanding. I doubt they would be expanding if they were in any financial trouble. Plus, if you go late in the day or go when they haven't had any deliveries for a few days, they're always out of stuff. They seem to be doing fine, really.

They wouldn't be doing this to generate cash, by the time the business pays the commission (usually around 50%) they usually end up losing money on each groupon-type transaction. But it's arguably more effective than, say, running an ad in the local paper, or doing a small web banner buy. At least you're getting new faces to come to your business, is the thinking.

So have you redeemed in the past and had a good experience? I don't live nearby so if they're out lots of stuff when I go, that would be annoying. I'm interested in the prepared items, like steak and stilton pie...

I live nearby, have been one of their customers for several years, and have taken advantage of 2 previous deals. This one is amazing!. This seems to be a very successful business, with a strong core of regular customers. As noted above, they are in the process of opening a fish store across the street. I'm planning to buy 2 or more of these today.

Have they been out of stuff when you've gone after the deal has gone through? My hesitation with these deals sometimes is that you can sometimes have a hard time actually redeeming it
            Thanks!

You could always place an order in advance if you know what you want too and they would have it ready for you.

Since I am not in the area it is hard for me to just drop in and see what they have though (i.e. pricing). If anyone can please confirm that their prices are reasonable on a normal basis too...
