Pre-Theater Dinner: Bond 45, Marseile, or Dafni?

  • 3

I am taking my teenage son to Broadway for the first time for two nights in a row at the end of the month and I have been doing a lot of research on the boards for good dinner options.

We already have a reservation at Bond 45 one evening, as it is a favorite of family members (despite my seeing little about it on the boards). As for the other night, I have narrowed it down to Marseille and Dafni, both of which seem to be pretty solidly recommended here. Assuming we like the cuisines equally, which gets your nod? My son has looked at all the menus and given them each a thumbs-up.

The only other alternative I'm considering is doing some sort of "old-school" thing by going to Joe Allen's post-theater, since it's my son's first time experiencing Broadway, but is it no longer "special" to do so? If we did that, we'd probably just try to grab a burger at the Theater District Shake Shack before the show.

  1. I prefer Marseille over Dafni assuming he likes the menus equally. Price-wise we came out about the same, but Marseille just seems way more professional and polished in it's service.

    1. Taking my kids (21 and 27) to Bond45 on Saturday before theater. How did you like it? Two of us are veg and the veg options look quite amazing, which is why I thought it would be a good option. Wondering about your experience. Thanks.

      1. I lived at 43rd and 9th ave for 3 years and have never even heard of bond 45...haha! We usually stuck to restaurants on 9th ave or west of that. I've been to both Dafni's and Marseille. They're ok. I don't think either will blow you away. In that area, I like Hell's Kitchen and Pam Real (more for delivery than anything).
