Napa Bars Help!...

  • 5

I'll be moving to Yountville in 2 weeks to work in a great little restaurant in town. I've visited before, but it's been over a year and we were on a short trip. I'm trying to find some bars in either Downtown Napa or Yountville that serve great beer, as well as places to purchase to take it home. I'm a big beer fan, and working in the wine industry it is not my drink of choice after a long day of work. I'd love to find a place to get some great beer and a bite to eat without spending a fortune.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

  1. Your restaurant buddies will be a great source of info. Plenty of beer around. There's a saying here that if you're at a party and want to spot the winemakers, look for the people drinking beer.

    1. Downtown Joe's brews their own beer and has *acceptable* food (not exceptional).

Personally, I would head up-valley to the Silverado Brewing Company. That's where the wine makers hang out to chill over a beer and decent nosh.

I think Downtown Joe's has acceptable beer, but the food has been nothing but hideous each time I have been forced to eat there. Sorry to be so harsh, but Downtown Joe's has such a great location, view, decent beer, music, and the food just sucks. So disappointing.

      2. Without a doubt the best place for beer is Billco's Billiards in Downtown Napa. They have 60 beers on tap from breweries like Moonlight, Russian River, Moylans, Lagunitas, Firestone Walker, and Deschutes. The best place for bottles would be the Whole Foods in Napa.

Pininex ~ Thanks for the heads-up on Billco's! Can I ask what the scene is like and is it just beer with billiards or is there food?

I'm a middle-aged woman (just relocated to Napa after half-a-decade) who actually enjoys billiards but not the pick-up scene that often accompanies pool halls.
