Manzano Bananas?

ipsedixit Jan 17, 2011 12:48 PM

Have any 'Hounds spotted Manzano bananas in their local (ethnic?) grocery stores, or farmers market?

Would really like to get my hands on some.

my local asian markets always have them. 99 ranch market and seafood city are the larger chain markets but even the smaller markets have them.

Interesting. I checked both Hawai'i and Shun Fat over the weekend. No luck.

Is Shun Fat a small market for dieters?

        Just wondering...

Asian markets will have them sometimes but I always get them in Hispanic markets. I'm in San Pedro and both Top Value and Numero Uno almost always have them on hand.

Superior Grocers aka Superior Super Warehouse yesterday had the kind that look like half-size plantains (also the baby banana type).

I just came from Big Saver market on Jackson and Garvey in Rosemead. They have the Manzano bannanas there for $1.19 per lb.
