"The Talk" in Watertown; Been There? Today's Groupon Monday 1/17/11

This is today's Groupon (4/10/11) - instead of starting a new thread, I thought I'd bump this one up.

Any updated experiences about this restaurant? I'm local, so it would be cool to find a new place to eat - besides, $18 for $40 worth of food would be awesome - but only if the quality is worth it, of course.

Only place I've tried here so far that is worth going back a second time was Not Your Average Joe's. Yeah, yeah - I know. It's a chain & I feel that I've committed a major Chowhound sin - but I can't help but love that place (only been to Watertown location though).

I'd be very happy if I could find another place locally - but esp. run by local people, to offset my ChowSin. ;) ....

I've had some uninspired food there, no real desire to return. It's wasn't bad, just not in any way memorable. The price point with the groupon probably makes it worthwhile if you're a local.

Was there last week. I had a caesar salad and the meatball app. Salad was ok -- no anchovies. Meatballs were so dry that I had to ask for marinara to dip them in so that they were edible. I sat at the bar and was not impressed with the service at all. The place was empty and the staff seemed bored out of their minds.

they might not be empty for long, with 1800 groupons sold at the time of this post (wow!).

I hope they do well though; this place doesn't look like it's for me so I"m passing on the Groupon but I do like their diner nearby so I'm rooting for them.

It's not bad. I've been there twice. It's run by the same family that owns Talk of the Town Diner, so lots of locals go there and people often hold town events there. The food is reasonably priced and competently done. It's a good family spot.
