Lunch near Cotati?
We're driving up to meet some friends in Cotati tomorrow (Monday, MLK day) but every time we've visited them we've wound up at pretty dull restaurants, so I was thinking we should meet them in Santa Rosa or Petaluma or really anyplace in the area with decent food. There will be 3 kids and 4 or 5 adults. We're looking for something kid-friendly, not horribly expensive, that will be open for lunch on a Monday holiday. Suggestions? Any kind of food is ok.

re: JoyM
Hope everyone's feeling better soon.
You may want to bring an ice chest with you and make a stop at Bud's Custom meats to stock up.
And as long as you're in RP, do check out the Portuguese baker, 9 Island Bakery. I think it might be closed on Sundays.

re: JoyM
I didn't see this question in time to reply before the MLK holiday. So, now I'll chime in. I heartily second the suggestions for Shangri-La and El Malecon. Is it more convenient for you to stay closer to or in Cotati if possible? Because I would add a recommendation for Bear Korean in Cotati (the language barrier can be a challenge, but the food is very good and very reasonably priced). I also like Mai Vietnamese Cuisine, in Cotati; and Sukhothai in Rohnert Park. There are also a number of good Mexican choices such as Taqueria Sol Azteca in Cotati and Mi Pueblo (NOT Mi Pueblito!) in Rohnert Park.
If you are looking for something less adventurous (for the kids?) you might want to try Sally Tomatoes, in Rohnert Park. It's a pretty simple, straightforward menu (soups, sandwiches, salads and a few mains). You line up and order and then the food is brought to your table. The house made potato chips are really good.
Do report back - I work at Sonoma State and I'm always interested in what's good for lunch around here!
