Tasty Tacos in Tucker - Taqueria San Pancho
Took a trip out to Tucker today to try out Taqueria San Pancho. I had been hearing great things about San Pancho from my friends, and was eager to give it a try. It's easy to miss, driving out on Lawrenceville Highway, but it is in a small strip-mall with a market and some other store-fronts. It was fairly early on a Sunday, but still relatively crowded. We ordered from the counter, above which was a fairly detailed menu printed in Spanish with some English. Didn't try anything except the tacos, but will definitely give that a shot next time. This time, I tried the Al Pastor taco, the tongue taco, the cheek taco, and the fish taco. All were great! The Al Pastor was my favorite, with crispy pork, and really nice spice. Next was the tongue and the cheek tacos, equally great. For both, the meat was really tender, and very flavorful. The fish taco was very tasty - note that it was minced fish, with spices, and not a fried fish taco, baja style. Others at our table had the tripe taco, which was described as great, and the crab taco. To me, this looked like imitation crab-meat, which I don't like, but the person eating it seemed to like it just fine. Overall, San Pancho is really great, with very fresh and hot corn tortillas, and very nicely spiced meats of all different types. There are so many different variations, I have to go back next week!
