Bella Gusta (West Hartford Center - CT): Olive Oil & Vinegar Store/"tasting room"

Hey, has no one been to the new store/tasting room on Farmington Ave.? Bella Gusta's been open just over a month now. They sell infused olive oils and balsamic vinegars--varieties of which I'd never seen or dreamed of--and yes, a TASTING ROOM for you to roam and sample. Whatta find! I stumbled upon it quite accidentally while roaming WHC earlier today.

I brought home a bottle of espresso balsamic vinegar. You can roll sweet or savory with it and quite honestly, I could lick it plain! Other favorite vinegars included chocolate (no kidding!), jalapeno and grapefruit. As for oils--how about chipotle or white truffle? There are long lists of each and they're all there for the sampling.

Here's an article to tell you more:

  1. I have not been there. Too bad their website is not well developed to show the varieties they carry, as I'm looking for some Herb de Provence oil. I'd be annoyed to drive all the way over there and find that they don't have it. (So far, it seems only the Newport store had that flavor.)

      Well, there's always the old-fashioned approach--the phone! ;)

    2. Sorry to bump up an old thread, but unfortunately it looks like Bella Gusta is currently closed due to a fire, from their About Us page ( http://bellagustaoils.myshopify.com/p... ):

"Bella Gusta will be closed until further notice. We had a fire on June 14th which seriously damaged the store. We have already initiated the rebuild plan and will make updates to this website on the progress. We thank all our regular customers for their business and hope to see you soon for our Grand Re-Opening."

We have been meaning to try this place for a while now, looks like we'll have to wait a little longer.

That's sad and I missed it on the news this week. Glad to know they'll be rebuilding, however.

If you're in the mood to sample different vinegars in the meantime, and are near the Pike, try Chef's Emporium in Berlin.
