I will be going to the Kennedy Center to see a performance in April. Any recommendations?

RIS! I sent friends from out of town there recently before an event at the KC and they loved it! Don't miss their Dark and Stormy cocktail.

This is my recommendation as well. Ris is great...especially their meatloaf!

New Heights is near the Kennedy Center if you're driving because you just go down Rock Creek Parkway. It's very good. One caution: Rock Creek Parkway is oneway in the wrong direction (away from the Kennedy Center) from 3:45 pm - 6:30 pm Monday - Friday.

Blue Duck Tavern is about a 5 minute drive. It's also very good.

We ate last night at Rivers at the Watergate -- food is price-y but everyone enjoyed their meal. Just about everyone in the group ordered red meat medium rare and everyone was happy with it. Cocktails were good, service was very good and you can't beat the location for the Kennedy Center. Not an exciting meal by any means but we were not disappointed at all.

Kinkeads is a pretty close walk. Also there is a Kennedy shuttle to foggy bottom metro station.

My wife and I ate there on January 8th nad while the food was fine I wouldn't compliment the service that much. We had a 6 o'clock reservation for a 7:30 curtain and needed every minute of the 90. However, it is the most convenient to the KC and we parked in the building for half the price of the KC parking.

Ditto re the service (despite telling host and server we had a curtain at 7:30 and needed to be out before 7:15)

Well I guess we were just lucky -- of course we had an early reservation, 5 pm (the only time they could take a table of 7) so would have had plenty of time for drinks and dessert even if service had been poor.

              I agree with RIS.
