Good Place for a Surprise Party in Brooklyn?

c

I am planning a surprise party for my dads 60th birthday. I'm looking for a nice place with good Italian food in Brooklyn, since we live on Long Island and most of his family lives in Staten Island. They are all Italian American, so i'm looking for some place that has good Italian food, and lots of room, the guest list is around 60-70 people right now.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

      I'd check out Tommaso.

Try Michael's. It's old Italian, a very nice ambiance, and though I don't know what their party space is, they might have a big enough room for a private party. It's not a hipster restaurant, or trendy, it's old Brooklyn. If you go, tell the owner that a friend of Vito M's sent you.

Michael's has a nice room for private parties PLUS a parking lot.

                Squid
It's not trendy or cutting edge, but would work well for what the OP wants.

When I walk into a restaurant, the trendiness quotient tends to drop a few points, so I might enjoy it too :)

Don't know the place but just looked at the menu. Anyplace with grilled pulpo as an app prolly deserves a visit at least, don't you think?

I'm sure the "Cool" quotient of every restaurant skyrockets with your presence, :-)

Try Gargiulo's in Coney Island. Just off the Belt, parking lot, food good and they have room of various sizes so you won't be cramped or overwhelmed. They probably hold more anniversaries, birthdays, communion parties than anywhere in Brooklyn. You can design your own menu and the food is excellent, ample and hot when served.

Sadly, Gargiulo's is no longer serving excellent food, but they do have lots of nicely appointed rooms and they do lots of parties.,

Second Tommaso's -- we had our rehearsal dinner, here, and they were absolutely wonderfu. Great staff, great food!

Also rec. Aurora in Williamsburg -- they can handle the size of your group and they have excellent food.

Hear good things about River Deli in the Heights. Prob not big enough, though?

In C. Gardens, there's Luna Rossa (never been) and Fragole.

In Ft. Greene, Locanda Vini & Olii
