Boyd's Seafood Restaurant is closing (YYC)

Boyd's Seafood Restaurant on MacLeod Tr is closing on Jan 31. I was there for lunch today and we spoke to the owner. He told us if he manages to sell the business, it may resurface under new ownership at another location in Calgary. If not, he plans to move the business to Invermere, BC.

  1. Damn, that's another local institution going. What about the shop on 14th? Is that different ownership?

No, the owner confirmed the shop on 14th St is not affiliated with this restaurant. It is different ownership so it won't be affected by this closing.

    2. I worked there for 3 1/2 yrs and was there up until the very end. I am sad to see it go. It was the best seafood in town. And I'm not just saying that because it kept me employed for that long. I was a customer LONG BEFORE i was ever working there. :-( Cant believe its gone now.

The owner has already confirmed that he is moving the business to Invermere. Doesn't really do much good for the majority of Calgarians, nor the staff. I guess we'll see.

It won't be re-opening in Calgary though -- I do know that.

Well, Invermere is 80% Calgarian, but point taken.

      2. My go to place for great Fish and Chips is gone :( I had noticed on my last visit that portion size and fish quality had went down quite a bit. It was never very busy even on Friday nights so I guess im not surprised.
