HELP with Vancouver foodie coming to town..

I have a reputation to uphold (know the best restaurants & know my wine), and have a Vancouver- based foodie coming to town. Interested in anyone's take on where I can take her for a great evening to talk and enjoy excellent food and wine. We need to be able to talk (quasi-business relationship, also good friends, we have lots to review), and I also want to hold up Toronto's end of the bargain...

So.. Any ideas?

A quality go-to with a view--and a great bar/lounge area--is Canoe ... just my two cents.

Chiado for upscale Portuguese. Ask for the bar menu and enjoy a leisurely dinner of tapas and Portuguese wine (seriously impressive wine list that I doubt your friend could find in Vancouver or many other places in North America). If you're ready for more food, venture into the main menu and focus on the fish and seafood. I realize that offering seafood to a Vancouverite seems risky, but Chiado sources from fishermen in the Atlantic, with fish I'm guessing won't be as commonly available out west.

Awesome suggestion. Didn't even think of Chiado and yet it is one of the more unique alternatives available in Toronto (similar to Cafe Ferriera in Montreal). K - definitely on the short list!
