Has anybody been to Sugar and Spice in City Island, Bronx?

I saw that Groupon is selling gift certificates for this bakery/restaurant in City Island. Being that I live nearby and i'm a chowhounder, I always get excited when there is something new and hopefully good in the Bronx. Anybody been? What are your thoughts?

I have been there a couple of times. Once about 4 years ago and then once about 4 months ago. The food has been pretty good both times. But I dont think that I ordered the right things there. It was in the early afternoon on a weekend so my order or crepes were great but the mac and cheese was bland. The bacon biscuit was cold and crumbly.

So if you are close its worth a shot in the morning.. Ad far as City Island goes there are 4 really good restaurants and the rest are mediocre. I would put Sugar and Spice in the good but has the potential to be really good.

I live on city island and go here all the time
the specials are what to get here the food is extremeley fresh great atmosphere very friendley staff
i have had the mac and cheese and it was very good seasoned very well
and the bacon biscuits are :) awsome

and the lobster roll is second to none

I also live on the island. Sugar and spice is great for brunch. Really good pancake and french toast. I don't often eat there for dinner but when I have I've always been pleased. Great baked goods too.
