UES Place for Smoking Cigars?

I have a friend coming in for a job interview at Mount Sinai... I just lost a bet and owe her some very expensive cigars (which I have purchased). Anyone know of a place we can smoke them and enjoy a drink or two on the Upper East Side?

I know it's a ghost town around the hospital, but we have cars.

  1. Don't know of anyplace up by Mount Sinai, but you can smoke cigars at Lexington Bar and Books (73rd and Lex) and Merchants (62nd and 1st). Lexington Bar and Books has the advantage of being more convenient to the 6 and has a fantastic Scotch selection if you're into that.

Merchants had their permit for smoking cigars yanked a while back...I'm not sure if they got it back or not, worth giving them a call.

Lexington Bar & Books is very pleasant. It's as close to Mount Sinai in this category as you are going to get.

    2. Merchants has a great cigar lounge, and they do permit smoking. You can bring your own sticks without any hassle, and their drinks are reasonable. Lexington Bar and Books on the other hand will charge you a clipping fee if you bring your own sticks, drinks are a bit pricey, and I have found them to be pushy and pretentious. You might also want to check out club macanudo.
