Last Sunday i made a braised beef chuck with porcinis and polenta and a peanut butter and banana cream pie...this weekend i'm not sure what winter comfort food i should make...lasagna and sticky buns maybe? Give me ideas please!

Chili verde? Pozole? Either of these scream comfort food to me. Especially because you can keep going back to fill your bowl so easily.
I'm thinking of starting one of these dishes for the weekend.
I have overnight guests coming and was planning on a Chinese banquet using the current COTM, but now all that seems like more work than I am up for presently.
Both dishes deliver strong flavors with a minimum of effort and they are easy on the pocket book.
Thinking of Smitten Kitchens vaniia bean custard for dessert. Also an easy, make-ahead dish that uses ingredients in the common pantry.
Of course, we'll need lots of sparkling wine to go with everything.

Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, collard greens w/ dumplings, and maybe a sweet potato or pecan pie? Apple cobbler?

Hmmm, what about a great big cassoulet? I've been personally craving pasta - specifically creamy mushroom pastas...
