Wedding venue help!

I know there are a lot of these messages on the board but most of them are looking for locations that can accommodate less than 120 people. I'm looking for a rustic looking venue for April 2012, that can have a seated dinner for around 180 people. I've looked into a number of places - Berkeley Church, The Great Hall, Argonauts Rowing Club, but I was hoping I could get some help from all of you out there! The food is important to me, I don't want the typical crappy wedding food. If any of you can help, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Thanks!

Thanks everyone! We have chosen our venue now... we decided on the Argonauts Rowing Club. Now we need to find caterer's so any help you could give would be great!

They have a few suggested caterer's so if you know anything about any of them, please let me know!

    Blair's Catering
    Daniel et Daniel
    Gourmet Cuisine
    James Catering
    Sequel Event Catering
    Yorkshire Pudding Catering

    Thanks!

D&D would be my choice from the list provided. I've worked with them many times for both work and private functions and have always been pleased.

Try Graydon Hall. Not sure what the food is like but the venue looks beautiful.

The venue and food are rather good, however, be prepared for the sticker shock. This venue runs well above the price-point of either the Great Hall or the Berkeley Church.

Has anybody ever been to a wedding at the Faculty Club at U of T? I just went to see it and I was wondering what the food was like!

Have any of you heard of events at Fantasy Farms? My friend told me about it but I had never come across it in any of my searches!

We're going to look into the Distillery District and Steam Whistle. The only problem with those is I think the cost can get pretty high.

I've looked into Wychwood Barns but I think you have to be out by 10... that's kinda sucky. I've done research into the Burroughes building too but I just can't get a sense for it from the website. Maybe I need to find photos from a wedding there...

Fantasy Farms is in really rough shape. Don't even waste your time with site visit. Just not worth it.

I've been to one banquet at Fantasy Farms in Dec 2007, and they served some of the worst banquet food I've tasted.

This might help you get a better idea of the Burroughes Building wrt weddings: http://cantfirethebride.com/2010/09/23/and-the-winner-is-burroughes-building/

In case you haven't already seen this list of venues, check this out: http://www.eatertainment.com/events_a...

I think the Wychwood Barns has changed its closing time to 11pm, at least on Thursday through Saturday. So that could be an option too. And the in-house caterer is fantastic!

Wedding food tends to be crappy because it's difficult to serve 200 people good food, all at once.

The Artscape space at Wychwood Barns might be an option, and the Stop could possibly cater it.

The Burroughes Building might be another option, which is rustic in that there is exposed brick and beams. Any restaurant or catering company could be hired to cater at the Burroughes. Marben has catered some events at Burroughes in the past.

The Distillery District may have a few large venues for rental (I had an event there for 500 standing in the past), but you'd have to get it catered ... big and rustic, that's for sure!
