Can anyone suggest a not to be missed lunch near Gonzalez/Baton Rouge?

  • 4

Hey folks,

I'm making the drive up to Gonzalez this weekend for a little outlet shopping and I was wondering if anybody could recommend a lunch destination that'll be open on a Sunday. Near Gonzalez would be great, but we'd be willing to drive on to Baton Rouge for lunch if anyone knows of a place.

Thanks!

  1. We were at the Cabela's a few weeks ago and there is a new Don's Seafood right before you go into the Cabela's parking lot. Don't know if it's any good or not but there were a lot of cars there. I've been to Mike Anderson's in Gonzales a few times and it's okay.

We went to Mike Anderson's for lunch and it was very good. Honestly I did not want to like it but I did. Of course it's been a year or so and I don't know what has taken place since then.

The last time I went to MA's in Gonzales was Katrina weekend and we stopped on the way into NO to eat there. My sister and I both wanted soft shell crab and it wasn't very good. I think it had freezer burn or something. It was dry and way overcooked. Everyone else seemed to like their meals but no one raved about it. I've been back once since then but the line was too long so we just keep on heading south. I would try it again but not get the soft shell crab. I don't even mind if they are frozen as long as they were frozen properly.

    2. Galatoire's Bistro is open Sundays from 11 to 3. It's at the Highland Road exit 166 (Tanger Outlet is at exit 177).
