"American" Food Restaurant Rec- DE

My mom isn't an adventurous eater at all. I am looking for a good "American" place to send my parents for a nice meal. My father loves anything and everything, so a place that would have something slightly out of the norm for him too would be great. Any suggestions?

  1. I can't believe I am saying this, but...Columbus Inn.

Are you asking about Wilmington? Or someplace else in DE?

Wilmington or Newark would be fine.

Iron Hill Brewery is a more casual/inexpensive option. I am always pretty happy with my food there. The menu is gigantic, so it should please both parties.

    2. How about Buckley's?

Buckleys is not what it used to be.

        Consider Redfire in Hockessin.

What kind of place is Redfire?

Redfire is billed as a steakhouse, but I'd describe it as steak-oriented. There are more non-steak than steak items on the menu. Here's a link

If they are reading this, I'd suggest losing the flash opening on the website. Annoying.

Anyway I like the place. Its not Peter Luger, but its as good as we have in Hockessin.

I just went to Redfire for the first time about ten days ago. I thought it was OK, not all that good--I should have done a CH review, will post it now. Anyway, the menu is not that broad, but it might work as long as one of the two people eating likes steak. Overall I was not particularly impressed with the menu (a little dull) or the execution (lackluster).
