Where can I find barbounia fish in NYC

Does anyone know of a Greek/Mediterranean restaurant in NYC that is delicious and serves barbounia fish? I know of Barbounia the restaurant, but they don't actually serve the fish.

Yes! My partner ate at Gazala's Restaurant on the northwest corner of Amsterdam & 78th Street the night before last. I had a lamb shank and he had the barbunia--and declared it wonderful. Gazala's is a Mediterranean restaurant specializing in Druse cuisine. It's a great looking place and has a delicious menu.

I was at Barbounia a few weeks ago and they had them as a special. You might want to call and ask.

I did a find-a-food search on Menupages and got these results (you can obviously disregard Barbounia-the-restaurant):

And I think barbounia is also known as red mullet, so you can search for that as well.

I had it once at Degustation as one of the courses but with their changing menu they probably don't have it any longer. Might be worth a phone call though.

I know that many of the Greek places in Astoria serve it. Taverna Kyclades serves it and is very good.
