Red wine vinegar question

  • 5

I'm new to the board and don't see a search feature. I want to try a recipe that uses "good red wine vinegar." The vinegar gets reduced. I hate it when recipes say "good..." because I'm not a good enough cook to know good from not so good. Can I purchase a "good" red wine vinegar in the grocery store (I'm in the Southeast) or are there online offerings? Thank you in advance for your suggestions/comments.

  1. Several years back Consumer Reports did a taste test and this was well-regarded:

Pompeian is my go-to and readily available in most mainstream supermarkets. My second choice is Cento. Here's another link on this subject, with more recommendations:

    2. queensgrt, for future reference............... the search feature is at the top right of every board page. For whatever reason...... it doesn't say 'search' but the search term is entered in the left box that says "subject, topic or question". Each specific board's search box shows the name of that board in the right part of the box and will search that board OR you can enter another board name or delete the board name to search all boards......... at least I'm pretty sure that's how it works.

      1. If you can find it in your area, as commercial brands go, Pastene red wine vinegar is very good and not expensive.
